Students will develop new perspectives through interpreting literature, expanding vocabulary, and writing creatively; students will also enhance their writing skills by examining point of view, character development, figurative language, and audience. This course is highly interactive and includes a live course orientation, weekly webinars with the course instructor, and reviews with the course TA. This is the first course in a two-part Tenth-Grade English series (ENGL 045 and ENGL 047). This course also encompasses Common Core content.
Students are required to view the film To Kill a Mockingbird (1962 black and white), which can be found at most video rental stores or libraries. They will also need a dictionary and a method or recording themselves giving a persuasive speech.
Materials: This includes a copy of reading materials, but does not include textbook material, exams, quizzes, or any other information found on external links within your course. This interactive course requires a microphone and speakers and highly recommends a webcam.
