Conversation Café Policies
- Students will need a working microphone, headphones, and webcam to work in the cafe. If you are experiencing tech problems, you may enter the café and ask to be sent to tech support.
- Students must complete the FIRST conversation café to move on in the course.
- Students can complete ONE speaking appointment per day.
- You must complete all speaking appointments in the correct order.
- You will need to complete ALL previous assignments before your speaking appointment.
- Graded speaking appointments are completed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- A grade will be posted within 24 hours of the appointment.
- Students will need a form of photo ID if they are taking an exam.
Tips for Successful Conversation Café appointments
Learning a language takes consistent practice. Before your speaking appointments, come to the conversation café to maximize learning, improve pronunciation and earn higher scores. The following guidelines will help you prepare for you speaking appointment:
- Read through the speaking appointment prompt.
- Be familiar with the grading rubric.
- Prepare for the speaking appointment on your own.
- When ready, log in to Adobe Connect with your full name and course.
- Practice the speaking appointment with a TA as many times as needed.
- Make necessary changes based on TA feedback.
- Return to the Conversation Café to complete the speaking appointment.
